A Kaia Girls Guide to Summer Solstice

By | June 12, 2021

The summer solstice happens every year and typically marks the beginning of the summer season. It’s the longest day of the year with a stretch of sunlight that last for 17 hours. It’s the time of welcoming summer the season of light and happiness and celebration of achievement and bounty. This year its predicted to occur between June 20th and 22nd.

It’s a time to recognize the value of what patience brings us.

When fruit is still green and hasn’t ripened, you just can’t rush it. There is a slow, sure rhythm of process. This is the same with ourselves. We can’t hurry things. We can’t just poof ourselves to the next best version of us. The good stuff is in the process anyway.

These are our recommendations for surviving and appreciating the sun and all the energy it provides:

Sun Salutations

Start your day with a series of sun salutations and an attitude of gratitude. Repeat them slowly with intention, to promote a more meditative affect. This will be energizing and enhance a deep appreciation for the sun and nature. Its not about being good at yoga, nailing every pose, looking perfect…its about being good to yourself.

Release What No Longer Serves You

Ignite your inner fire by letting go of the thoughts, emotions and stories that you no longer need. Foods to compliment are ginger, cinnamon, turmeric and cayenne. These ingredients will help awaken your metabolism and eliminate toxins from your body.

Enjoy the Sunlight

Take advantage of the lasting daylight hours by enjoying a long walk or bike ride in nature and remember all we have to be grateful for.
